Mothers and daughters wanted! Girls and Moms on the Move™ is a six-week program that brings girls ages 8-12 and their moms or female guardians together in a supportive group environment. You’ll train together to complete a 5K run, learn how to become physically active, and enjoy great times sharing and learning about a healthy lifestyle.

The program welcomes participants of all athletic levels.

Cost for the six-week program: $25 for a mother and daughter pair, which includes a Girls and Moms on the Move hat for each participant and snacks each week. Cost for a mother and two daughters is $35. Cost to register for the 5k race will be additional.

Here’s how it works:
Each week, you’ll learn about wellness concepts that give your daughter the knowledge, skills and tools you need to live and sustain an active, healthy lifestyle. Each session combines the following:
  • A group get-together to learn about and discuss the importance of physical activity and eating healthy to promote good health, to review the week’s goals, and to participate in a group physical activity
  • Preparing and sharing a yummy (and nutritious) snack each week
  • Goal setting and tips on how to make physical activity fun as mom-daughter teams complete additional physical activity on their own

At the end of the six weeks, the group meets at the 5K ready to complete an amazing journey together.

Girls and Moms on the Move is a program of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, and offered and supported in part by The Heart of New Ulm Project.
